Windows
To request immediate remote support for Windows computers visit Breakset Instant Housecall, click Download Now, run Instant Housecall, then click Start Session. The first time you start the software it will ask for your contact information. If I am not immediately available I will be paged and will contact you as quickly as possible. I have several other remote control technologies available if needed.
Mac
For Mac users I am currently using Breakset ShowMyPC or CrossLoop. Alternatively we can also use VNC or Yuuguu.
Linux
I use Breakset ShowMyPC or SSH for Linux remote support, as appropriate.
Specials
By far the most common issue I run into is “My computer is so slow.” or “I think there is some bad software installed.” While these problems are usually straightforward to fix the work involved can be very time consuming. A few virus scans, some software updates, and defragmentation takes hours if not days. I established these flat rate specials to take the worry out of the final bill.
It usually takes a minimum of 2 business days to complete the work with 5 to 7 days most common. During that time we’ll be in contact by email and telephone and I’ll be connecting to kick something off or contacting you to confirm a change. These prices are good through 2010.01.31.

Correcting PC issues, especially bad ones, often takes a very long time. Much of that time is spent waiting on the computer, only a small amount is interactive. Billing hourly for these services leaves a big question mark on the final price and makes it tempting for many to simply buy a new computer. With that in mind I created these low risk flat rate services. If I am unable to fix the issue there is no fee! The fee is prorated in the case of a multiple computer discount.

I have been providing technical support for over 20 years. In that time I have worked with or for companies ranging from sole proprietorships to multinational corporations. There isn’t much I’ve run into that I can’t fix or find a work around for. I get a lot of clients with the same issues I have a fairly standard set of programs I use regularly. I’ll be documenting them here soon. If you buy the Fix my PC services what you are getting is my time, expertise, and process with these products.
